What is an escort/ companion/ courtesan?

The meaning of these terms, and what they encompass, varies greatly and is different for everyone. Many ladies try to differentiate themselves from others with different terms and explanations. Lets begin with the basics.

Escorts:

An escort is someone who will escort you to  an event or dinner, etc. The word has been refined to mean ‘prostitute’ in many locations, however officially, an escort is a social date. What occurs on that date is between you, and of course many escorts just happen to be promiscuous, hence the association with prostitutes; it’s a nicer way to describe oneself if one is peddling physical services ;)

Many people have tried to differentiate themselves by adding words to the description, such as elite escort, GFE escort, high class escort or luxury escort etc. Some like to use ‘vip’ in their titles if they have some accomplishment in a career. Many simply add ‘beautiful’ or ‘educated’ as a prefix for their title. Others may use the city in which they live, such as Sydney escort, Melbourne escort or Perth escort, for example.

A ‘model escort’ would be someone who is a working commercial or editorial model, with a look book of tear sheets/ proof of publication, and who enjoys meeting people for fun in her own life, who like hanging out with models. A ‘luxury escort’ or vip companion would be someone who probably looks like a model, but is not officially employed as one. (Many of these will market as ‘model escorts’, for gentlemen seeking that look. Rather than being deceptive, they are letting people find them who are looking for model types.) The same would apply for all manner of descriptions unfortunately – if she thinks she is intelligent/ model-like, beautiful, she must of course use this in her advertising. It is up to you to filter out those with whom you don’t agree!

Companions:

A companion would be something similar, accompanying you to events, on travel as a travel companion, or just keeping you company  in your own space. This term too has been skewed to mean someone whose ‘services’ can be purchased. Again this should be a choice between two people, but has come to be synonymous with hookers. Incidentally, the word ‘hooker’ comes from old NYC, when ladies would stand down by the docks waiting for sailors. When a gentleman would pass by, she’d hook her arm into his, to lead him off into some debauchery – hence the term ‘hooker’. These days it has a rather distasteful and nasty connotation,; it’s rather an insulting term for ladies of the evening. However that was its origin!

Again, the multiple descriptions abound for ladies seeking callers, and terms such as elite companion, GFE companion, high class companion or luxury companion will be utilized to advertise themselves. Some people like to use ‘vip’ as a prefix if they feel they are particularly adept at some career. Sometimes adding add ‘gorgeous’ , ‘intelligent’ or ‘model’ can draw attention from different people. Other ladies may mention the cities they frequent, such as Sydney companion, Melbourne companion or Perth companion, for example.

Courtesans:

A courtesan is a higher-end companion or escort, who usually offers a more comprehensive range of services. Many don’t even like to refer to their work as ‘services’, but rather simply spending time with high quality people, and providing whatever is necessary. She may be particularly intelligent (this is subjective to what they think is intelligent.. and relative to the company in which they find themselves!) , others may be simply exceptionally competent at caring for others. The only way to truly experience the quality of a lady’s company, whether she refers to herself as an escort, a companion or a courtesan, is to assess her marketing and presentation, and meet her.

A courtesan may be more adept at dynamic entertainment, and will usually possess talents like dancing, with extra knowledge on wine, culture and such. Not to say an escort or companion might not have the same level of refinement and sophistication or not. However the courtesan is known for her ability to entertain high profile gentlemen, of more elite social calibre. We don’t have many of those in Australia lol, so providing courtesan services locally is somewhat redundant. However for international visitors and travel companionship requests, a courtesan can be useful. Only a courtesan would be able to attend a state dinner, and know which fork to use.

Yet there are all manner of ladies who understand this, with well bred heritage, who do not market as courtesans. And sadly this term too has been hijacked by working girls, making it synonymous with escort or other terms. Not all ‘courtesans’ are of a courtesan standard. Social etiquette and sophistication eludes a lot of local ladies, given the very relaxed lifestyle in Australia. In turn, many higher end or ‘upscale’ or upmarket escorts and companions would be more suitable for such prestigious events, given their ability to remain discreet, and potentially high society life experience internationally.

Summary:

Do some research, meet some people, and see what you like for yourself. You may find a courtesan is more your calibre, or you may fnd 1 out of 100 courtesans is actually a courtesan. You may find a high class escort or an elite companion is perfectly suited to you – use different terms when seeking out lady friends, and find someone with whom you really connect. It’s your money, you should be clear about what you expect to be receiving. Value for money is important in any sector or business relationship.
